A Mountain of Anime Updates Landed Over the Holidays
The Yuletide season offer a plethora of pursuits far superior than scanning the headlines: discovering surprises, indulging in festive fare, and harnessing deep breathing to refrain from arguing with loved ones. It is wished you were able to enjoy all these things and more. However, the showbiz industry doesn't take a break, and this is particularly true for the realm of anime. Numerous exciting announcements came out over the festive period, and should you didn't see any, here is a compilation of the juiciest bits.
The One-Punch Man Series Season 3 Is Set to Continue (By 2027)
Without a doubt the most surprising revelation, the much-discussed troubled production that was the third season of One-Punch Man wasn't enough to halt the series' continuation. The show will come back with a subsequent part in 2027—so far away they could have dubbed it season 4. More surprisingly, animation studio J.C. Staff will continue to be in charge. On a positive note this time, helmer Shinpei Nagai is on board to direct from the start, which is seen as a positive development. However, the key visual for the second cour is the same image the one used for season 3, just with characters Saitama and Garou oriented differently. This leads one to believe that, by now, they must be trolling the fans.
Ruri Dragon Is Poised to Be the First Shonen Jump Anime By Kyoto Animation
Kyoto Animation has forged a reputation for being an elite animation studio, distinguishing itself not just for the exceptional quality of its productions but for the fair treatment of its employees—a sadly unusual standard in the industry. Unexpectedly, until now, it had not adapted an anime adapted from a manga from Shonen Jump, arguably the best-known magazine in the field. Ruri Dragon will change that, and what a excellent choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo became a huge following when it debuted in 2022 after just a small number of issues, but then went into a lengthy break due to the author's health issues. When it came back with a lighter schedule, the series demonstrated it hadn't lost the fans' affection and goodwill, and now fans are ecstatic about the forthcoming KyoAni adaptation.
The Kingdom Series Its Sixth Season Is Getting a Follow-Up In Production
Kingdom is the highly popular, epic Shueisha manga that is other than One Piece. If you've never heard of it before, it's because it only just received an English release, but the anime has been running for some time, and season 6 was yet another excellent entry. It turns out that was just the first half, because a "sequel" has been confirmed as in development, and it will almost certainly air in 2026.
Science Saru Will Adapt A Witch in Mongolia Into an Anime Series
Another studio famous for the superior craftsmanship of its projects, Science Saru has given us masterpieces of the quality of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, most recently, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be taking on the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, inspired by the true story of Fatima, an powerful woman and scholar in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. Judging from the trailer, the anime called Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a highly unique and captivating visual style, which evokes Ranking of Kings. Debuting in July 2026, this one will definitely be on my list of anticipated shows.
Tougen Anki Is Set to Continue With a Season Two
Right after the conclusion of episode 24, it was revealed that Tougen Anki will be securing a sequel. Based on the Japanese legend of Momotaro, Tougen Anki is based on the manga by Yura Urushibara. The second season of the anime will adapt the Nikko Kegon Falls Arc, but a firm premiere date has not been disclosed yet.
