Rob Edwards and O'Neil are two of the early names in the frame to succeed the former manager as manager of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on the weekend following the team's 10-match winless beginning to the top-flight campaign.

And Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have previous associations to the club - are part of the options to be considered by the club ownership.

Edwards is presently at another club, which would create a potential hurdle to his appointment at Molineux.

However the ex- Luton manager - who played more than 100 of games for Wolves during his playing career - is said to be a strong contender for the position.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys backing from the Wolves directors as they start the search of hiring a fresh manager.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a surprising choice given he was sacked by the club in December last year.

The ex- West Ham player is out of work which means Wolves would not need to pay any buyout fee.
