Homages Continue for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight after the tragic deaths of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community persist in remembering the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt able to share openly about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can finally put my grief into words," shared Elwes, saying that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced spending more time together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the film, remarking that he doesn't recollect "a single day without mirth".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a different tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to prevent the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order put a security hold on the files to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the result of foul play, with a record citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Fallout and Commentary
In the wake of the deaths, public personalities offered divergent comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering provocative statements that were broadly criticized by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the detractors recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan labeled the statements as "shocking" and remarked they demonstrated a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an adviser ought to have intervened when the choice to comment on the death was made.
