Jennifer Lawrence Says Discussing Donald Trump Would ‘Add Fuel to a Fire’ That’s Ripping the Nation Apart
Jennifer Lawrence has declared that she believes it's no longer suitable to voice opinions against the Trump administration, concerned it could exacerbate divisive discussions and deepen rifts across the country.
‘I’m Unsure If It’s Wise’, Explains Jennifer Lawrence
Speaking with media, Lawrence reflected, “When Trump was first in office, I thought I was moving hastily like a chicken with my head cut off. But experience has shown, over multiple voting cycles, public figures do not make a difference at all on voter decisions.”
She continued, “What’s the point? I’m just sharing my opinion on a matter that’s going to heighten conflict that’s ripping the nation apart.”
Changing Allegiances
The actress has admitted freely about voting for both conservative and liberal presidential nominees in past elections. Brought up by a right-leaning family in Kentucky, she cast her ballot for John McCain in 2008 before joining the Democratic party and stating she realized during President Obama’s term that voting Republican was undermining her personal freedoms as a woman.
Previous Comments
In 2015, she remarked that Trump winning the presidency could represent “a catastrophic event” and endorsed Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential race. During the most recent election, she lent her support to Vice President Harris, “as I think she’s an excellent choice and I am confident that she will make every effort to defend abortion access.”
Celebrity Views
The star was joined by numerous celebrities in her disapproval of the former president as a presidential contender, but the lack of leverage stars have over the electoral decisions was underscored by his election win.
“Another four years appears changed,” noted Lawrence of his leadership. “As he stated his intentions. We knew what he did for his first term. He was explicit. And voters made that decision.”
New Release
Lawrence is highlighting the drama, director Lynne Ramsay’s drama in which she plays a young mom who struggles with her mental health in the countryside. During a media event for the movie in Venice, she spoke about the situation in the Middle East: “I feel fear. It’s devastating. What’s happening is no less than a humanitarian crisis and it’s horrible.”
Additional Thoughts
She continued by stating that she was disappointed by “the hostility in the discourse of U.S. political debates currently and how that is going to be accepted to the kids right now. It’s going to be standard to them that leaders are untruthful.”
The actor attempted to refocus outrage about the conflict to decision-makers rather than entertainers. “Stay focused on who is responsible,” she remarked, in what many took to be a allusion to the declaration signed by more than 4,000 entertainment industry figures to avoid specific industry bodies.
Relatable Experiences
The actor, who earned critical acclaim at a young age for her part in the acclaimed film, is generating Oscar buzz for her work in her latest project. Even though Ramsay has denied the narrative being seen as one of maternal mental health issues and mental illness, she revealed that she identified with elements of her film narrative after the birth of her youngest child, not long after filming concluded.
“There was concern regarding my baby,” she explained, “imagining every negative outcome, and then second-guessing everything that I was attempting. I was already in therapy, but I started taking a treatment called the prescription and I took it for a short period and it really helped.”
Film Challenges
Lawrence also mentioned about the liberating necessity of completing nude scenes in the movie while she was some months pregnant and couldn’t work out.
“It feels nice,” she remarked, about having to set aside self-consciousness. “Truly, I occasionally wonder where I’m like, What separates me between myself and a sex worker? But it isn’t a major concern.”
